Achievements
- Led the POWER (BR) team that established an alliance with Doosan, including licensing technology for design of fossil power plants, that resulted in a $50MM increase in revenue for the Company.
- Implemented Integrated SmartPlant engineering software including 3D Design/Modelling to improve productivity and accuracy.
- Doosan Engineering and Services, led the POWER (BR) team that established an alliance with Doosan, including licensing technology for design of fossil power plants, that resulted in a $50MM increase in revenue for the Company.
- Managed the update of Company Standards and Procedures as part of a quality improvement initiative to comply with both ISO 9001 and ASME NQA-1; Company received “N-stamp” as a result.
- Developed techniques for analyzing and documenting Hazardous Locations for power plants; currently used as the model for NFPA/OSHA compliance.
- Implemented Power Distribution Concept (PDC) for electrical supply equipment on gas turbine power plants, saving costs over “stick-built” design; PDCs are now the norm for the power plant industry.
- Planned and implemented the company Quality Improvement Process based on Philip Crosby Associates principles. Specifically responsible for motivating staff to improve work process utilizing several techniques such as: quality action team meetings and facilitation, quality newsletter articles, bulletin board displays, and employee recognition. Also taught Quality Work Group education classes.
- As a Quality Auditor, participated in the successful company efforts to secure ISO 9001 quality certification. John Brown was the first USA process contractor to gain certification.
- Analyzed CAD vendor software and hardware, performed benchmark tests, and recommended systems supplier. Implemented the conversion of electrical engineering activities to computer assisted tasks utilizing CAD systems. Directed the development of an automated drawing process to produce diagrams and plans from database, thus providing considerable time and man-hour savings as well as improve quality; process is now the standard.
- Specified and directed the automation of the capital cost estimating process through in-house software development utilizing ORACLE database software. The new program improved estimate accuracy and reduced preparation time by 50%.
